Mauritius Open 2009
[Thu 10 Dec 09]
From mcbopen.com - 'Ryder Cup veteran Sam Torrance found himself in a familiar position on Wednesday after the second and final round of the Constance Hotels Pro-Am at the Belle Mare Plage resort. The 56-year-old Scot, a multi-title winner on both the main PGA European Tour and the Senior Tour, joined forces with the Ferguson Jones team and helped them to top the leaderboard in the Gross Section of the competition. Martyn, Sally and Marcus Ferguson Jones went into their second round at the Legend course as overnight leaders after enjoying the company of Zimbabwe’s Mike Williams on Day 1.'

Considering Marcus comfortably outplayed both pros with rounds of 63 and 72 it would appear that the above article somewhat overstates the role of Mr Torrance...

Cronk Secures Matchplay Title
[Mon 26 Oct 09]
Andrew Cronk has won the 2009 OCGS singles matchplay after a tense final against last year's winner Mickey Moore. The pair were all square after eighteen holes but unfortunately Mickey three-putted after going for the birdie handing victory to Andrew. The trophy will be presented at the annual dinner.

The Langmead Salver 2009
[Mon 26 Oct 09]
The Langmead salver was once again played on a beautiful autumn day at Bognor. The course was in excellent condition and the OC's arrived with their youthful (in mind but not body) team but soon lost 2 of its number (who were eligable for either team) to Bognor who were 2 short. Losing both Langmeads (rupert and Ian) was a crushing blow to OC's who went down closely to the strenghtened Bognor team. A splendid lunch followed with everyone allready looking forward to next year. The Langmead Salver has now been running for 7 years, Cranleigh are behind by 4.5 to 2.5.

The Grafton Morrish 2009
[Mon 28 Sep 09]
A team of three pairs played for the Grafton Morrish Trophy on Hunstanton and Brancaster courses the last weekend of September. Our 3 - 0 win against Brentwood on Friday was not emulated on Saturday, when we went down to Berkhampstead 1 - 2.

However, our 86 points scored by: Martin Riddiford and Max Hunt - 25 points Adam Kendrick and Fraser Moore - 31 points including six birdies! Tony Whitty and Craig Moore - 30 points qualified us for the plate competition in which we came 6th out of 18 schools but we lost in the semi final to Whitgift in a tight match.

It was good to see new (young ) faces playing under the excellent organisation of Matthew Hansford and Martin Riddiford.
